Between June 2017 and June 2018, the number of existing home sales in the Washington region decreased 4.6 percent (466 sales). The number of closed sales has now decreased in seven of the past 12 months, including four months in 2018. As a result, there were 1.0 percent fewer closed sales in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. In June 2018, sales in Suburban Maryland decreased 5.5 percent from last year and had the sharpest decline of the sub-state areas. Closed sales in Northern Virginia decreased 4.8 percent, while closed sales in the District decreased 1.2 percent.
